"The affinities of all the beings of the same class have sometimes been represented by a great tree. I believe this simile largely speaks the truth."

"It seems therefore that a taste for collecting beetles is some indication of future success in life."

"Whenever I hear of the capture of rare beetles, I feel like an old war-horse at the sound of a trumpet"

Darwin

"The voyage of discovery lies not in seeking new vistas, but in having new eyes."

About Me

My Photo
Heath
I have been an amateur naturalist and coleopterist for years. I am finally fulfilling a life long dream working on my PhD in quantitative biology at the University of Texas in Arlington. I am using comparative methods to study speciation and chromosome evolution on a very broad scale. I am also using next gen sequencing data to study the same processes at a much smaller evolutionary scale.
